I think almost everybody knows what a turtle is. They are a goofy looking reptile with a shell. Pretty simple animal, is what you think. Right now I will change that.
One thing you probably didn’t know is that turtles have two shells. Now, they aren’t like full shells they are actually two pieces of the shell that makes up the turtle. One of these pieces of the shell is called the caraplace(the top section) and the plastron(the bottom section).
Another thing you didn’t know is that turtles sleep underwater. I know that this isn’t very shocking but it’s still cool. They sleep underwater by holding their breath for a really long time and then just sleeping while doing so.
One last thing you didn’t know about is that some turtles while in the water is that they can reach a top speed of 22 mph. Everybody says that turtles are slow, sure on land, but in the water they can be faster than some fish.
